MLB Steroid Rumor: Damon Denies Usage

The rumor has spread like wildfire, and Johnny Damon weighed in yesterday.  Said Damon:

"No way.  If I tested something positive for anything, then someone threw something in the (sample). I think it's because of the way I'm built. I've had people thinking that since I was in high school."

Theo Epstein was also not amused, but we all remember how Peter Angelos initially reacted to the Rafael Palmeiro rumors.  You can read the Boston Herald article here.  For the most part, we believe Damon.  Check out our MLB Steroid Rumor post from yesterday, where we explain how Damon's reasons not to use steroids outweigh the benefits.

Roger Clemens, on the other hand, has yet to make any statements in his defense.  We are somewhat surprised that Clemens's agent Randy Hendricks hasn't tried to squash this rumor yet.
